About:

I received my first camera at 13 for a Christmas present. I was hooked on photography. Initially, like most kids, I played with my new "toy" for a few months then put it away, only using it sparingly. However as I got older my interest in photography reignited as I experimented with images of insects, the backyard, and friends. This lead to being the family photographer as more people encouraged me to continue taking pictures. Eventually I decided to take the craft more serious by reading up on photography techniques from numerous photography magazines. Inspired by the images in these magazines, I strived to duplicate those images. As I got better and better, I decided to do photography as a part-time business. And the rest is history.

Comfort:

I always try to find something in common to talk about with my clients when we initially meet, or at least open up a brief conversation before the shoot. That way the focus is not so much on the camera, but on the "fun experience". So I try to get my clients to talk more, which in turn usually reveals what they wish to get out of the photo session. I also describe the photo session in detail, so they will know what to expect during our time together. Often my clients are not professional models and tend to be a bit shy, so when I direct them on how to pose they always appreciate that and are surprised with how good the outcome is. Of course it never hurts to a have sense of humor and find a way to crack a joke.

Favorite Locations:

I love natural light. As a result, I always suggest outdoor shots to my clients whenever possible. Of course many times the client's needs require indoor shots, and that's totally fine. I'm skilled in incandescent, but my preference is to shoot outdoors under natural light. City parks are great locations for these shoots, and most cities have numerous parks to choose from.
