  • The goal of the headshot is your face. Nothing else. Nothing.
  • Delivered prints must be 8x10 inches only.
  • If you have doubts about which images that look like you as you really are to use, get the opinion of someone in the business, not your brother or cousin.
  • Your headshot should look like you. And never be too glamorous. Don’t try to look something more than you are physically. If you are plain, go with that. If you’re stunningly handsome, it will show. Don’t try too hard.
  • Pick clothes that best reflect your strongest persona. Go for looks that best reflect the roles you are most likely to land. No costumes. Ever.
  • Make the photo about you, not something else in the shot like a hat. It is your face as it really looks that is the key go a good headshot. Hide, distort or change that at your peril. No fancy backgrounds. No props ever. None. Nothing clever or anything that can distract from how you really look.
